Dumbo
Almost 80 years after the original Dumbo-cartoon release, eccentric film director Tim Burton skilfully gave one of Hollywood’s famous characters a make-over. The story is well-known: a miserable-looking little elephant with huge bat ears is exploited by a circus director after he discovers that those ears give Dumbo the ability to fly. The story of this film reminds its audience of the many freak shows around 1900 in which people with disabilities were exhibited, but it also shows how many revolted against this and fought for a more humane existence.
This is a screening for the pupils of the third and fourth grade of primary school Blauwput De Mozaïek. There are 80 spare seats, so be quick if you don’t want to miss out.
