Baghdad Messi (Screening Antwerp)
On May 7th the Leuven DisABILITY Filmfestival organizes for the first time a screening at the campus national of the Thomas More Hogeschool in Antwerp.
After the screening the audience will have the chance to talk about the movie with Anke Van Genechten and Pieter Verstraete of the DisABILITY Filfmestival.
Hamoudi, a 10-year-old boy from Iraq, has an immense passion for football, idolizing football stars like Messi. His aspiration is grand: to one day shine in the Champions League matches. Despite facing physical challenges due to a leg prosthesis, Hamoudi engages in matches with his friends. He continues to pursue his dream with determination.
The title "Baghdad Messi" playfully nods to Lionel Messi, the acclaimed footballer. The film delves into themes of perseverance, hope and the potentiality of dreams amidst the challenging life circumstances in Iraq.
