'Zomervacht' tells the story of 13-year-old Brian. He suddenly has to take care of his older brother Lucien during the summer vacations. Lucien has a severe intellectual disability, and Brian often struggles to figure out how to best help him. Their father, Maurice, is preoccupied with his own problems and is too absent to support his sons. As the situation at home becomes more complicated, Brian faces a heartbreaking choice: What is best for his brother? And what does he need for himself?
‘Zomervacht’ is a moving and honest story about caring, responsibility and growing up. The film captures the complexity of family relationships and the emotional weight they carry, leaving a lasting impression with its sincere emotions. It is based on the novel of the same name by Jaap Robben.
This movie will be preceded by a musical performance by Sacha Van Loo and Lucy Kloeck, two musicians with a visual impairment.
