Milano (7:30 PM)
Alain is raising his deaf son Milano on his own in a social housing estate and wants to give him a better life than he ever had. Despite his good intentions, his feelings of powerlessness and failure become increasingly apparent. Their shared quest for communication and the encounter with Milano's biological mother put pressure on the father-son relationship. Milano finds comfort with a woman from the neighbourhood, much to his father’s displeasure.
“Milano” is the first Flemish feature film with a deaf actor in the lead role. The film demonstrates that emotion is not always conveyed through sound.
After the screening, there will be an interview with Christina Vandekerckhove, the director of the film. The audience will also have the opportunity to ask questions and engage in a dialogue.
