Dewi Reijs - 2016

Debiel

Director: Dewi Reijs Year: 2016 Duration: 15' Spoken language: Dutch Subtitles: Dutch Partner: Pasform

Debiel is a short youth movie about Yildiz, a Turkish girl with a mental disability. When she accidentally finds herself backstage at a big fashion show, her biggest wish comes true.

Whilst getting her degree in theater and cabaret in Amsterdam, Dewi Reijs' quest for a short film project led her to her neighbour Rahime Güngor. Not only was Rahime the inspiration for Reijs' film, she is the star of it too - she plays the main character that was based on her. Rahime has the mental capacity of a five year old, but that doesn't stop her from chasing her dreams.
